Velvet

25 September 2013
Originally a silk and cotton fabric, now made with mixtures and synthetic fibres. Formed by two wefts and one warp, one weft forms the fabrics, while the other is cut short to make the characteristic nap.

Woven in machines 140cms thick, it is characterized for its capacity to absorb a large amount of ambient light. There are different varieties depending on the length of the nap.
Its use is primarily for upholstery.
