Herringbone twill

These twills the diagonals are alternately right and left forming a ripple pattern in the fabric.
 
By analogy of the pattern, fabrics with this weave are known as Herringbone. The weft involves two, three or four passes which gradually interlace moving sideways to form a diagonal to the right or to the left.
